A-site Modified Hybrid Perovskites (ASTRAL)
Project Overview
Duration: 2019 - 2022
Funding organization: Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)
Funding program: SPP 2196 (Perovskite semiconductors: From fundamental properties to devices)
A new class of hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite semiconductors with AMX3 structure, has attracted global attention due to rapid increase of photoconversion efficiency up to 25% has been achieved. However, there is still inconsistencies of device qualities within the research community and the limited fundamental understanding, how these hybrid perovskites could reach such remarkable perfomance. The focus of the SPP will be on the investigation of fundamental working mechanisms. This includes structural, optical, electronic, and magnetic properties and, most importantly, their correlations. The objectives of our contribution ASTRAL center around fundamental understanding of formability, crystallization and grain boundary engineering in solution-processed A-site modified hybrid alkyl ammonium lead iodide perovskites. Through an integrated synthesis, processing and computational effort, functional perovskite inks with optimal crystal size and solvent chemistry will be developed to examine the optoelectronic properties of solid-state absorber films in device structures.
